Crescent
Roll Breakfast Casserole
“Super easy
peasy! Of course, you can use ham or
bacon (or leave it meatless) and you can add in peppers, onions or
mushrooms. Make it your own. But, this is a recipe that everyone seems to
love! It's great for holiday mornings
and weekends.” Angela
Ingredients:
1 can of
crescent rolls (I used the 8 oz. seamless dough sheet, but the triangles work
fine - just
roll them out non-separated)
½ - 1 pound
crumbled, cooked breakfast sausage (ham or cooked, crumbled bacon can be
substituted)
5 eggs
1 cup milk
Salt and
pepper, to taste
1 cup of
mozzarella cheese, shredded
¾ cup of
cheddar cheese, shredded
Non-Stick
Spray
Preparation:
Preheat oven
to 350 degrees.
Coat a 9 x 13
dish with non-stick spray.
Unroll
crescent dough and form into the casserole dish ... you'll want some dough
going up the
sides of the dish.
Spread out
the meat in an even layer onto the dough.
Top with about
a cup of shredded cheese.
This is where
I used the mozzarella.
Beat 5 eggs
with the milk.
Add in a
pinch of salt and pepper.
Pour over the
meat and cheese layer.
Top with
about ½ - 1 cup additional cheese, this is where I used cheddar.
Bake on
middle rack for 25 - 35 minutes or until eggs are set and crust is brown and
flaky.
Allow to cool
on counter for about 5 minutes before slicing.
Top with
chopped chives or scallions, if desired.
