Classic
Scalloped Potatoes
“You could,
of course, add in some ham to make this a more-complete meal, but this is one
side dish as-is that cannot be beat.” Angela
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons
butter plus more for greasing baking dish
1 1/4 cup
whole milk
1 1/4 cup
heavy cream
2 garlic
cloves, peeled and grated
1 teaspoon
kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon
freshly-cracked black pepper
Pinch of
freshly-ground nutmeg (optional)
3 pounds
potatoes, peeled and sliced thin
Directions:
Butter a
2-quart shallow baking dish.
Set aside.
Combine the
milk, cream, grated garlic, salt, pepper and nutmeg in a small mixing bowl.
Set aside.
Shingle a
third of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish...
